HTML5 storage

HTML5 storage provides a way to store information on your computer and retrieve it later. It stays on your computer, and you can access it when you visit our sites.

The latest versions of all major browsers support HTML5 storage. We confirmed that the latest Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari and Opera Opera support it.

We developed our HTML5 storage file system for our visitors to save and retrieve texts anywhere in our website.

Usage

to open this file dialog to retrieve the text of a file to the textarea.

to open this file dialog to save the text of textarea to a file.

In our file dialog:

Click to open a file and retrieve the text. If you check [ Append], You can append it to the existing text of the textarea instead of overwriting the text.

Click to save the text to a file. If you check [ Append] with an exisiting file name, the text will be appended to it instead of overwriting the file.

Click to delete a selected file.

Click to exit this file dialog.

The maximum file name length is 32 for our HTML5 storage file system.

HTML5 storage is website-specific.

We have mirror sites for stars21.com for USA like stars21.net for Europe and stars21.asia for Asia. However, you cannot access your files crossing sites.

HTML5 storage is browser-specific.

You cannot access your files crossing browsers.

Disk space

The browser limits the total amount of space allowed for storage areas. The browser may prompt you when quotas are reached, allowing you to grant this site more space.

A mostly arbitrary limit is 5 megabytes per a website which means 5 million characters.

Some browsers treat "www.stars21.com" and "stars21.com" as different so that you can get 10 megabytes storage with using this trick.

Privacy and Security

For HTML5 storage, your data is stored at your own computer but not our server.

Of course, anyone who knows your account and has physical access to your computer can probably look at your HTML5 storage.

The browser may, if so configured by the user, automatically delete stored data after a period of time.

As you know, our websites are free and anonymous without any log-in system, and we never send data of users to our server.
